Las Brisas was absolutely PERFECT. It used to be a Westin, so picture understated elegance, sophistication, and the perfect amount of native Mexico. All of the rooms are equipped with comfortable beds, gorgeous bathrooms, and an incredible view. The bar is fantastic for happy hour-it's the best way to enjoy the sunset. Some people complained about the ""location"" but I thought it was perfect. The rest of Ixtapa was so cookie-cutter, all on one long strip with dirty facilities and overcrowded beaches. While all of the beaches are public, the shape and location of the beach as Las Brisas lends a private feel. It's worth the 5 minutes to walk to the bus and the 15 minutes to walk to downtown Ixtapa. Skip the taxi, and take a quick walk down to the bus stop (its the entrance to Las Brisas, down the hill) and go into Zihua, as Ixtapa is extremely touristy. Hit the mercado for a cheap ($3) breakfast and a fun dose of local culture. For dinner, be sure to go to Soleiado in Ixtapa for a wonderful, romantic Mediterranean meal, or try Coconuts in ZIhua for a touristy but charming atmosphere (and great food.) There's a great place across the alley with the strongest and cheapest margaritas we could find! If you like to surf, take the time to go to Troncones, but Playa Linda is a relatively short bus ride. My husband and I really recommend the bus system: it's cheap, safe, and reliable. The taxis, on the other hand, overcharge. Las Brisas was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at, and I love to travel! It's beautiful, luxurious, and afordable: I can't wait to return!

My dad and I stayed here for 7 nights. It is a beautiful, clean hotel with a wonderful private beach, although the surf is dangerous. The problem I had with this hotel is that I found it inconvenient to have to take a taxi every time you want to go into Ixtapa town. Also, the pools are quite a long walk from the hotel, too far for my elderly father to walk. They do have a free shuttle to the pools, but I would have liked the pools to be closer. As many other reviewers noted, the beds are extra firm, and my back was not happy. One night we had a very loud party of people placed right next door to us, despite the fact that the hotel was nearly empty. I didn't get much sleep that night, and the next morning they promised me that the people would be moved, which they did. On the positive side, the staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. The concierge helped me find an acupuncturist for my ailing dad.

We had a really good time here, the private beach was very nice. We had a little trouble with our resevation and I was on the phone with travelocity when the hotel got them straightened out. The food at hotel can add up quick. We ate at Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo a lot and the taxi rides are reasonable about 50 to 70 pesos.

Stayed at the Las Brisas in Ixtapa, Mexico for 6 nights. Gorgeous views from room balconey (we were on 19th floor). The beach area was beautiful just a short elevator ride to access it. Ample beach chairs and umbrellas available for free at both the beach and pool areas. Room was very well appointed and clean. Parking and valet service was free. Only complaints - very hard mattress and noise levels at night (due to tile floored hallways, all sounds are incredibly amplified and echoed). All in all, a beautiful property.

We were disappointed that the hotel did not acknowledge our 40th wedding anniversary. I mentioned it when we checked in and numerous times after. I even went to the front desk and asked if the hotel did any thing special for anniversaries. But still nada!! 40 Years should received some sort of recognition, don't you think!!!!
