We had a great time at the Canto Del Sol during our 7 days there. The hotel is clean, newer it seems and well taken maintained. The room was nice and modern and it had a plasma tv as well. The pool was fantastic and at night there are entertainment acts in the pool area. The beach was so so at best, rocky and littered there were also some homeless people camped out (not on the hotels beach, but mabey 100 yards away down the beach). However there are nice beaches nearby if want that. Across the street from the hotel is a nice shopping and a great travel agency named Xlent Tours with a very friendly and helpful owner who works there full time. There is also a fantastic tattto/body piercing shop called Maya's in the same shopping center, he is renowned throughout the city for his body art and has fantastic prices compared to the states. The staff at the Canto was amazing, they are very friendly and helpfull. Its a great resort, I would stay there again. My only disapointment with the hotel was its limited selection of ingrediants on the menu. They use the same main ingrediants in most of the dishes there with dif sauces or sides ect, aside from that everything was fantastic for the price range.

1. Upon arrival at the airport you will go through customs, then pass through two lobbys go past them these lobbys are full of time share people it is the third lobby that will have the transportation and taxis available. 2. Kids- The kids had a wonderful time. They loved the pool, bigger than our backyard. They loved the kids activities, the shows, the beach, everything. 3. Food- The food was fine we enjoyed the soups and the main courses. Some of the baked desserts could have used more sugar. 4. Beds- Very firm, if you have a bad back bring extra padding. 5. Beach - the beach was somewhat rocky but is definitely the best hotel beach in the area.

We just returned from a week at Canto Del Sol. Our rooms were not ready when we arrived, we had to request differant rooms the next day. When we went to the front desk to request our room the next day we were told we had to get on a list for the next day. We then went tGuest Services and stated we wanted to transfer to a differant hotel, at that point they seemed to have a nicer room for us that was not behind the restraunt. We were transfered and were finally offered all the ammenities that were included in our package. The food at the hotel is all the same, they say the have a differant menu each night but they just call it something differant. Breakfast was very good however. The pool area is very nice but they have to many peaple for the area available. There are times during the day that you can not find a chair or lounge chair. I have been to Puerta Vallarta 6 times and will not stay at this hotel again. The hotel was clean and our rooms were well maintained. However the staff was unfriendly and to busy to help.

We just came back from a seven night all inclusive stay at the Canto and had a great time. We got a newly refurbished room with a 32 inch LCD TV. It was very clean with nice decor and new furniture. Every day the tile floors were even washed. The hotel has very good upkeep. They were even doing some painting outside as we arrived. The grounds were meticulously kept tidy. The pool area is postcard perfect. We had a voucher to go eat in the restaurants but the buffet was so good we didn't bother making a reservation for the restaurant. Being a picky eater, I had no problems with the food at all. You can have your breakfast made to order and sit by the ocean or have breakfast at the buffet. The afternoon and evening buffet has lots of variety and I loved the dessert selection. The activities staff keep you entertained. They have programs going from morning to afternoon. They are fun to watch and you can get involved if you want to. They also put on a different themed dance show each night at 8pm which are entertaining. They must spend a fortune on dance costumes. The pirate ship that puts on a show nightly sails by at about 9:30pm and shoots off a few fireworks as well. The waiters will bring you drinks often and tipping encourages you will get good service. Sometimes the drinks were watered down but we were not there to get drunk anyways and we certainly had our fair share of drinks. The location is very good. There are two big stores within a block walking distance. You can take a cab for 50 pesos downtown or ride the bus for 5.5 pesos(50 cents) and see the Malecon and nightlife.
