My wife and I have been visiting this resort every year since October 2002. First year was for one week, second year for two weeks and now it has been for three weeks each year in October. A small resort of 183 rooms with fantastic staff. The Food and Beverage staff are #1 and one is soon treated as family. The food is good. It is not 5 star but it does not pretend to be. What we find is that we get good honest value for the money we pay. Some people would prefer the Riu chain or Holiday Inn for example. We like the small, extremely friendly and personal atmosphere of Samba. It starts with the bellboy saying "Welcome home" when we get out of the cab to check in. We'll be there again on October 8 for three weeks - can't wait!

I would never every recommend this resort to anyone. For starters, the rooms had a musty smell and just did not seem very clean. The extra room sink and the sink in the restroom, as well as the shower drains were rusted over and the bathroom sink top had cracks. There were no mini bars set up in the room and it was virtually impossible to find ice. The whole resort only had 2 ice machines which never worked while we were there. We had to go from bar to bar to find someone that would give us ice. They provided no bottled water, but you could buy it from the gift shop. The best thing I can say about the food is that it was ediable. It was the same thing every morning, afternoon, and night. They could never accomodate a whole party in the one resturant they had because they said there were to many of us, yet the resturant was always empty when we passed by at dinner. There was no kind of itenary of activites and all of the announcements that were made were only done in spanish with no translation in English. There is no kind of late night activites like music or dancing, by 1:00 they were pretty much sending you to your room even turning the lights out on us when we were out relaxing by the pool. Take this as a warning do not waste your money staying at this resort.

The first day was decent and for the most part the stay was decent. When we got to the room we noticed the bathroom was barely cleaned and looked old and ""stingy"". Rust was on the drian rims and moldy shower head. We then noticed the remote didnt work and that the balcony deck had bbird feathers and dirt everywhere. The awning that you look out once on the balcony was filled with bird poop and feathers, very disgusting. We went back downstairs to exchange the remote and they insisted on giving us another one that was not the right brand either but the lady was very rude and admiment that it would work. We then also told them about the bathroom and they said everything is cleaned daily yet would switch our room. We went back up adn sure enough the remote didnt work. This time I went down to exchange the remote and exchange currency. We were given the wrong currency, rude services, and bad food the whole stay. If your plan is to just get drunk while you are their, then this hotel may be well suited for you. Otherwise dont bother, not worth the moeny!

We went with a group of friends and had a blast. The staff and activities people were so nice and we had a lot of fun with them. The food could use some improvement. We were very please with the resort. We like that fact that wasn't so huge and we could access anything quickly. You will have fun with the activities people!

We were very please with the resort. We like that fact that wasn't so huge and we could access anything quickly. You will have fun with the activities people!
