My wife and I just returned from a 4 night stay in an ocean view suite and I have to say we were disappointed. I will say that the beach is beautiful and quite possibly the cleanest beach I have ever seen(sand and water...that's it...beautiful). The place is located with a great view of the famous arches and overall it's a very clean and beautiful place, and the staff are very nice. The food is not good and even worse desserts(of course it is all-inclusive so that's something I guess we should have expected) and found out that two of the four specialty restaurants require pants, no shorts allowed...bummer as I thought I was going to an all-inclusive beach resort! If you despise smoking as I do...you will HATE this place, you can't sit anywhere by either pool and get away from smokers. The a/c in our suite never got down past 75ish during the day even w/ the blinds closed. Don't be fooled by the wi/fi...it's only in the lobby and we seriously couldn't have been further from the Lobby. Their is no flat screen tv's...only the older tube tv's with NO dvd player and most channels are in spanish. Be prepared to get hounded by the 30-40 amigos selling stuff on the beach, if you say no to one, expect about ten more to still ask the same question...this is EVERYTIME you go to the beach. Tennis courts look and felt about 40yrs old. We rented a wave runner and found out that something was wrong with it..."sorry my friend" was there response. Has to be the cheesiest entertainment I have ever seen! I personally would never recommend this hotel to anyone and probably would never stay at a RIU resort again...it's unfortunate as the possibilities are endless.

Judge for yourself.. I read the negative reviews and the RIU is a breath-taking hotel. I have been to Cozumel, Cancun & other parts of Mexico, but Cabo San Lucas is a beautiful site to see and staying at the RIU Palace hotel is breath taking especially looking out towards Lovers Beach from our room balcony. I have no complaints regarding the stay at this hotel. Only discrepancy was the safety box lock broke same night we arrive, but the repair custodian was there within 20 minutes and fixed it. Every one at the hotel greeted and treated us with great smiles, great attitude. There is always something to do at the hotel if you not at town, the pool has great activities, along with the night entertainment. (Disco & Show entertainment) Daycare for kids, Spa out of this world. No complaints on the food If you staying more than 5 days, rent a car, taxi can be expensive. Try Cabo Wabo club on weekends. Shrimp Factory restaurant close to town has awesome seafood. More restaurants & shops by the Marina. Swimming with the dolphins and paraselling was exciting; along with the tour of releasing the turtles. Take a water taxi to Lovers Beach; Cabo is a site to see and the RIU hotel is a best place to stay in my opinion.

Staff was great and very friendly. Food was very good at all meals. However, some of the restaurants were closed due to decreased occupancy, so that was disappointing. Room appeared tp be older and the sofa very worn. Thought the sofa was going to break when used. Bathroom "vanity" mirror could be larger, and lit. Tub had a strange shape if taking a shower. Under the shower head, the tub is narrow from side to side and slopes from each side towards the middle, so if feels like you are stading on two slopes. Nice balcony, and great hang up for suits/towels to dry overnight. A/C not working correctly. Unable to fix. Everything in room very damp, including our clothes. Hallway had very musty/moldy smell. Tango dance lesson great, but very odd. Actual instruction was only about 15 minutes. Disco very loud, but DJ willing to work on song choices. Unlike other sites, this location is very close to the beach and easily accessable. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

The pictures in the website do not do this property justice. It is exquisitely beautiful if you arrive after dark. The open air lobby is truly a picturesque sight as is the property as a whole. The staff is very welcoming and goes above and beyond to ensure the guest every need are taken care of. We stayed a week and still did not have enough time to experience the whole property. The rooms are very well maintained, roomy, extremely clean, and the turn down service works around your schedule. The mini bars were restocked daily. The view from our room was awesome, definitely worth a few extra dollars for ocean front/view room. We required laundry service during our stay and it was simply a phone call away. The pools are divided for activities, i.e. adult and family, which for those with no children is a plus. The restaurants and wait staff are exceptional, especially Benny. There were daily/nightly activities scheduled so if you didn't want to go into town, there was plenty to do at the property to include a variety of nightly shows. The spa is a MUST!!! The property is also gated with security with access limited to employees and guest.
